BeyondPress lets you base all GIF images in a document on a color palette loaded from another GIF file (see Image Preferences). In this folder you will find two GIFs whose palettes you may wish to load if you are targeting Windows users.
Netscape 216.GIF
This GIF image contains the palette that Netscape uses to render images on 256-color Windows 3.1, 3.11, 95, and NT systems. Images not using these colors will be dithered during conversion, sometimes with undesirable results. Also, if you use the Netscape 216 colors, your images will be dithered on non-Windows platforms.
If you want your images to look their best on systems with thousands of colors or more, you should use the 'Adaptive…' option when setting up your GIF palettes.
Windows 16.GIF
This GIF contains the color palette used by Windows when displaying 16 colors. If you don't want your images dithered in this scenario, load the palette from this GIF.
